This is a 【top quality Stitching Awl】 for leather crafters.
We paid special attention to the shape and quality of the blade.
The following are the particulars we incorporated into the product during its development.

1.-Careful attention to the blade-
The blade is hand-finished to be even sharper than usual.
Compared to the standard Stitching Awl, the front is sharper and the sides are thinner.
This reduces the resistance when the tool is stitched, so it penetrates through the leather without effort.
Sometimes I see people who round the edge of the Stitching Awl by themselves and make it thin like a spatula.
Actually, we do not recommend such a process.
Consider and look at the structure of Stitching Awl.
Wouldn't it be much less resistant to pierce the leather fibers with a point than with a surface?
The only reason for rounding the blade edge is to make the entrance and exit of the leather at the time of piercing the leather the same size hole, within a short distance of the blade edge.
Our Stitching Awl is made with the blade width in a straight shape, so if you stab a little, the hole will be the same size as when you stab deeper.
Also, the guide lines drawn for drilling are much more accurate when piercing a point than a surface.

2.-About the wood handle-
Ostrya Japonica was used for the wood handle.
Ostrya Japonica is known primarily for【wood molds for shoe manufacturing.】
It is a hard, hard-to-cut material with high durability, making it suitable for tools that are in constant contact with the hand.
The finish is unpainted, so it absorbs hand sweat and feels comfortable in the hand.
Two lines are placed in the center to create a [non-slip surface for the thumb and middle finger] when gripping.

3.-About the Cap-
The cap is made of solid brass and fastened with a brass nail for aesthetics.
We were particular about not having a gap between the wooden handle and the cap so that there would be no discomfort at the fingertips.

4. -About the assembly-
The blade of the Stitching Awl is mounted perpendicular to the wooden handle.
By assembling the blade vertically, it is now possible to drill holes by feel, using the shape of the wood handle held by the hand as a guide.
There is no need to drill holes while checking with the naked eye.

5.-Blade Material and Hardening-
We are particular about the material and finish of the blade.
The blade is made of tool steel.
The entire blade is hardened to increase its metallic hardness.
The blade is springy to make it difficult to break.

6. -Size and Compatibility-
The blade width has been made [straight shape] and [size variation] has been increased.
The blade width has been made straight from the blade tip to the base.
The size of the hole does not change even when the blade is deeply pierced.
The size variation has been increased to clarify the product standard.
We have made it compatible with each size of Diamond hole punches.

7.-Overall length and blade length-
Overall length [110mm] and length of the blade [approx. 20mm].
The length of the blade coming out from the Wooden handle is set to 20mm.
When you hold the wooden handle, the index finger is placed at the tip of the blade.
This makes it much easier to stab the blade into the leather.
It also serves to prevent the blade from flexing and to improve the strength of the blade.

8. -about printing-
Size and Japan are printed on the pattern.
No.1(S)/No.2(M)/No.3(L) sizes are printed.
JAPAN (proof of manufacture by OKA Factory) is also printed.
